Al Horowitz
(1907-1973)
Horowitz showed his best form in the Olympiads, playing in 1931, 1935 and 1937—all years in which the US won the gold medal—and in 1950. From 1933 until 1969, when it merged with Chess Life, Horowitz was owner and editor of Chess Review, which was for many years the leading American chess magazine.
